  • The null hypothesis in this study is that there is no treatment effect (i.e., no genuine advantage) to grouping the letters into familiar acronyms. Is it possible that through the random assignment process we could still create groups where the memory abilities tended to be higher in the JFK group?

  • Do you think it is unlikely that the random assignment will have a difference in group means this far above zero?

  • How could we go about deciding whether the difference observed between these groups could plausibly have happened by the random assignment process alone?
