Conclusions and Extensions

(m) Write a paragraph for the 538 folks summarizing what you have learned:

  1. Describe the sample: Who was in the study and what did you learn from the data exploration?
  2. Estimation (confidence interval): What does the confidence interval tell you?
  3. Generalizability: Describe the population you are willing to generalize these results to
  4. Looking forward and back: What would you do differently in the next study and/or what additional research questions would you follow up with? Briefly summarize why you would consider these improvements.

(n) Do you feel this confidence interval gives you an accurate impression of a typical arrival time (minutes after the start of the party)? What population parameter could you choose to estimate instead and why might that be a better choice?

(o) Suppose we removed the early arrivers (before 9:30pm) from the data set. Predict how this will change the midpoint and the width of the confidence interval.
