Math 37 - Probability and Statistics

Goal
Students will gain an understanding of statistical principles and their
use. They will learn how to collect data, examine data for patterns and
relationships, and analyze data to draw conclusions. They will learn to
interpret and judge the statistical information in the world around them.

Introduction to the Practice of Statistics, Moore & McCabe

Students are also required to sign up for a laboratory hour. In this lab,
students will analyze real life data using the Minitab(TM) Software Package,
incorporating this output into a lab report. In addition, students will
complete a semester long project on a topic of their choosing.
Prerequisite
Math 5 or an appropriate score on the intermediate algebra placement test.
This course is not recommended for first semester freshmen. The course
fulfills the GE Area IIIB requirement.
