1) Review the entire course syllabus. Bring questions to class on Monday.

2) Identify 3 uses of statistics in the news (e.g. newspaper, TV, radio)

(a) Give the complete reference

(b) Explain what the article means

- What are they measuring?

- What conclusions did they come to?

(c) Evaluate their results

- Do the authors do a good job of explaining what's involved?

- Do the conclusions follow from the information given?

- Do you consider this a good use or a bad use of statistics,

keeping in mind the points we raised in class.

- What additional information would you like to have?
