Background: FiveThirtyEight.com asked readers (Sept. 2014) to participate in a crowdsourced study to help estimate when party-goers tend to arrive. Hosts were asked to use a stopwatch or sign-in to determine when guests arrived. A group of engineers at UC Davis invited more than 200 people to a dance party that started at 9:30pm (Friday, Sept. 5). They collected arrival data for 81 people.
